The San Patricios

Saint Patrick’s Day as a libation-focused celebration presents an opportunity for a bold, rich beer in the Irish tradition.  We took our standard Iron Horse Oatmeal Stout recipe and built up its body with a boost in the amounts of Maris-Otter and Munich malts pushing almost another percentage point of alcohol out of the fermentation using yeast traditionally used for brown ales.  These changes gave us a deeper-flavored, richer, rounder malt profile to support the finishing notes from whiskey-soaked oak spirals that mimic the beer having spent time in an Irish Whiskey cask.  We love this place we live in...
